DC Free + Fun Things Happening This Weekend

The Freer Gallery kicks off its retrospective of Osamu Tezuka, the famous creator of manga comic books and moves, this weekend with a film series. It’s all free!

 

The New Age of Chocolate” exhibition is in its final days at the US Botanic Gardens. The show will close next Wednesday, so what better time to get out of the cold DC rain and into The Mall‘s own little rainforest.

The 14th Energy Expo – 2009 comes to the Washington Convention Center Saturday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Solar, green insulation and efficiency window makers will be on hand as well as officials who can tell you about a slew of green loan and grant programs. The Smithsonian is also holding a “Frontier Family Day” of bluegrass music, storytelling and scavenger hunts at the National Portrait Gallery‘s Kogod Courtyard. 11:30 to 3 pm.
